Pre-Kaineng Dagger Spam: Good news, the daggerspam chain is not only the strongest attack chain you have but is also available extremely early in Factions.
Blinding Powder, Shroud of Distress and Shadow Refuge are your defensive options, Death's Charge shadowsteps to the enemies, Critical Eye helps your energy management.
Unsuspecting Strike can replace Jagged Strike if you can afford the energy.

Standard Dagger Spam: The classic, played since forever. Unsuspecting Strike can replace Jagged Strike if you can afford the energy.

Way of the Assassin is a very standard elite and always performs well.
Shadow Theft is the Assassin anniversary skill and is a powerhouse that adds +4 to your attributes and counts as a lead attack to not break your chain.
Flashing Blades is a good defensive option against physical damage, as long as you can attack. Adds Lotus Strike to manage energy.
Free Slot: Both Whirlwind Attack and "Save Yourselves!" (Kurzick) are excellent choices.

Enchanted Assassin: Enchantment-based builds.

Way of the Empty Palm not only makes your off-hand and dual attacks free, but also reduces their cooldown. Entangling Asp and Impale add damage to the chain, but can be freed for Warrior’s Whirlwind Attack and "Save Yourselves!" (Kurzick) who will be easily fueled with this build. If you do, you can replace Golden Lotus Strike by Unsuspecting Strike.
Locust's Fury is a special one. In this case, we look for long cooldown skills to maximize our double attacks, a perfect shell for Blades of Steel and the +damage of Conjure [Element]. Can be a bit energy hungry, so Golden Lotus Strike helps here.
Note: Replace the Deadly Arts rune by a Clarity Rune.

Special Builds:

Siphon Strength is an excellent anti-melee/Ranger hex that combines well with Black Lotus Strike, Black Spider Strike and Blades of Steel for high damage, while Impale can be replaced by Whirlwind Attack for more AoE.

On balance patches

2026-08-26: The buff to Black Lotus Strike and Black Spider Strike transform the Siphon Strength build into a excellent single-target debuffer build.
